It’s safe to say that anything that Iran does should be looked at with extreme caution. This is a country that has promoted terrorism and has even said that they are against the United States. Iran is a nation that will do what they want and actively ignore the pleas of others.
It’s shocking and appalling that former President Obama did what he could to help out Iran over helping out the citizens of the United States. He gave them the Iran nuclear deal, which has been a disaster, he gave them billions and billions of dollars, and what has Iran done? They have spit in the face of the United States.
Iran conducted another ballistic missile test and the first one under Donald Trump’s presidency. Unsurprisingly, they have violated a United Nations resolution. The launch happened on Sunday at a well-known test site outside of Semnan, roughly 140 miles east of Tehran.
The missile, named the Khorramshahr, is a medium-range ballistic missile, and it flew 600 miles before exploding. Officials said that it was a failed test of a reentry vehicle. Back in September, Iran defense minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan said Iran would start production of the missile.
As for the United Nations resolution that Iran violated, they violated resolution 2231. It was put in place days after the Iran nuclear deal was signed and it calls on the Islamic Republic to not conduct these ballistic missile tests. Despite the fact that the resolution bars Iran from conducting these tests for eight years, this was at least Iran’s second test since July.
The text of the resolution says Iran is “called upon not to undertake any activity related to ballistic missiles designed to be capable of delivering nuclear weapons, including launches using such ballistic missile technology.”
Iran tried to get around this by saying the nuclear deal doesn’t include provisions that prevent Iran from conducting ballistic missile tests. They also claim that the tests are legitimate because they are not designed to carry a nuclear warhead. How many of you actually believe that, considering that Iran wasn’t supposed to have these tests for eight years and they’ve broken it twice in six months?
Come to think of it, Iran wouldn’t be able to do this had it not been for former president Obama. Seriously, this was a president that gave Iran billions of dollars, gave them enough uranium to build ten nuclear warheads, and signed a nuclear deal that has been looked at with disgust.
Iran has felt empowered thanks to the actions of Obama. For eight years, he did nothing to stop them and instead gave them all the resources that they would need to build these missiles. Not to mention that I have never heard of Iran having sanctions placed on them.
The worst thing that Obama did to Iran was give them a slap on the wrist saying “don’t do that again.” Look what that has accomplished? They are lying about the capacities for their ballistic missiles, breaking UN resolutions, and they STILL have the uranium necessary to make warheads!
However President Trump is going to do something about this, as he spoke with King Salman of Saudi Arabia, which the two “agreed on the importance of rigorously enforcing the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action with Iran and of addressing Iran’s destabilizing regional activities,” the White House released in a statement.
Yes, a ballistic missile launch could potentially fall under “destabilizing regional activities,” considering they are literally launching deadly missiles that travel hundreds of miles!
The U.S. intelligence community was able to identify Sunday’s launch because of its robust satellite network that detects heat signatures of missile launches and explosions from bombs being dropped worldwide.
People in the U.S. Army are not fans of Iran, as last March, U.S. Army Gen. Joseph Votel told Congress that the U.S. should continue to “expose” Iran for the role that the nations plays in the region, including supporting the Syrian President, who drops bombs on his own people.
Ambassador Mark D. Wallace, CEO of the non-profit United Against Nuclear Iran, said, “Iran’s missile tests are an unacceptable act of aggression-something we have seen occur time and again for the last 18 months.”
They wouldn’t be like this had they not been empowered by the nuclear deal signed with former President Obama. Again, his nuclear deal allowed Iran to receive enough uranium to build ten nuclear warheads. Are we really just supposed to sit here and do nothing while Obama’s deal continues to bolster this rogue nation?
Of course Iran has also said that they are not going to renegotiate the nuclear deal with President Trump. Trump has said time and time again how much of a disaster the deal was and that he would terminate it to create a better deal for the United States. It’s not surprising that Iran was opposed to that.
