Trump Meets with Auto Execs To Bring More Manufacturing Jobs into The United States Share on Facebook Tweet Email

A cornerstone of President Donald Trump’s campaign for the White House was his repeated insistence that he would bring good jobs back to America, the sort of jobs that would revitalize the manufacturing industry and strengthen our nation’s economy.

Not one to waste time, Trump has hit the ground running since being sworn into office Friday, his energetic approach symbolized by a meeting in the White House with top executives of the Big Three American automobile manufacturers on Tuesday, according to Fox News.

Ahead of the meeting, Trump spoke about his intention to “bring back manufacturing big league” in the U.S. by cutting taxes and reducing onerous regulations while still keeping an eye on protecting the environment.

“We have a very big push on to have auto plants and other plants — many other plants,” Trump said in his opening remarks. “It’s happening. It’s happening big league.” Matt Blunt, head of the American Automotive Policy Council, a trade association for the Big Three, said Trump asked his guests specifically what his administration could do via domestic and trade policies to “help make the United States more competitive and strengthen the ability of automakers to add production here.” Aside from the lopsided trade deals that Trump is working to extricate the U.S. from and the unnecessary regulations that slow production and that he has promised to reduce, the biggest complaint from the automakers was the arbitrarily high fuel efficiency standards set by the Obama administration. Following the meeting, the heads of the Big Three automakers spoke to gathered reporters outside the White House and issued praise for what Trump was doing and already had done, such as withdrawing America from the flawed Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal.

President Trump is creating a business-friendly environment in the U.S. that hasn’t been seen in a long time, and that environment will do more to create jobs and improve our economy than any stimulus package or government-centered action will ever be able to do. This is also what is known as “winning,” and while there has been plenty of it happening since Trump took office, we are far from growing tired of it as Trump sarcastically predicted we eventually may. Please share this on Facebook and Twitter to let everyone know that Trump just took a big step toward revitalizing the American auto manufacturing industry.
